The Mere Pond, immediately to the west of the War Memorial and set back from Faccombe Road, is a large dew pond (an artificial pond usually sited on the top of a hill, intended for watering livestock) that was once an early water supply.  Measuring some 55 by 35 yards, it is divided by a porous 6 foot-wide dam which acts as a filter.  The remains of a pump-house are also visible.

There is also a dew pond in Cross Lane.  It is mainly cleared of undergrowth and retains water for most of the year, supporting a different ecology from the rest of a heavily cultivated parish.
